How a second attempt works
- Initial practice: the student completes an exam paper.
- Peer marking: a classmate marks the paper using model answers.
- Teacher review: the teacher checks and explains the answers again.
- Customisation: admin removes the questions the student got correct, and a new version of the paper is saved with only the wrong questions.
- Reattempt: the student redoes only the mistakes. This can be done during extra practice, at home, or in tuition.
The benefits of second attempts
- It targets the exact gaps. Time is spent only on what the student cannot yet do, not on questions they have already mastered.
- It is efficient. Redoing a full paper wastes effort on easy questions. A second attempt strips it down to the few that matter.
- It builds lasting memory. Meeting the same tricky question a second time, a few days later, is exactly the kind of spaced, active recall that moves a skill into long-term memory.
- It stops mistakes from repeating. A mistake that is corrected once and never revisited tends to come back in the exam. A second attempt closes that loop.
- It reinforces the correct method. The student practises the right approach until it becomes automatic, so it holds up under exam pressure.
- It builds confidence. Turning a question they once got wrong into one they can do easily is proof that effort works, and that feeling carries into the next paper.
Parents can run second attempts at home
You do not need our system to do this. The method is simple:
- Buy 2 sets of the same exam paper.
- After marking, cancel (cross out) the questions your child got correct.
- Have your child redo only the wrong questions on the second, clean set.
The goal is not to do more papers. It is to make sure no mistake survives to exam day. Second attempts are how a wrong answer becomes a mark your child can count on.
